The Applied Algebra and Geometry Research Group
The Applied Algebra Research Group, affiliated with the department's section for Algebra & Geometry, is headed by Elisenda Feliu.
The research of the group covers topics in real applied algebra and its applications to biology. Specifically, main research interests of the group lie in the determination of when a polynomial is nonnegative, a class of polynomial systems called vertically parametrised systems, which arise among other in the study of reaction networks and critical points of multivariate polynomials; applications to the analysis of models of reaction networks as for example the determination of multistationarity (multiple positive solutions to a polynomial systems), bifucations, and absolute concentration robustness.
More details can be found in the papers of group members, which can be found in their respective webpages.
