Sascha Lill, postdoc

Newly employed

Sascha Lill was employed as a postdoc at the department’s section for Analysis & Quantum, associated with the Centre for the Mathematics of Quantum Theory (QMATH) as of 1 July 2025.

Sascha Lill

Sascha Lill is originally from Germany and completed his BSc at the University of Magdeburg and his MSc at LMU Munich. He received his PhD in 2022 from the University of Tübingen under the supervision of Roderich Tumulka.

“I am interested in the rigorous formulation of quantum systems with many particles. Within my PhD, I mainly investigated infrared and ultraviolet divergences within models of light-matter interaction and QFT, a field that still holds many interesting but difficult open mathematical problems.

“During my first postdoc from 2022 to 2025 at Milan with Prof. Niels Benedikter, I then shifted my focus to the vibrant field of mathematical many-body physics, where I have been working on fermionic gases. Also here, infrared divergences pose some highly nontrivial mathematical challenges. In recent years, substantial progress has been made with understanding the dynamics, ground state and low temperature properties of such gases mathematically, but there are still plenty of unanswered questions and open conjectures.

“I will be continuing my research line at Copenhagen under the supervision of Prof. Søren Fournais at the QMATH Centre. There are several experts on many-body physics around at Vibenshuset, so I am looking forward to some nice discussions at the whiteboards and in the coffee breaks,” says Sascha.

His office, V01-4-06, is in Vibenshuset, Lyngbyvej 2.
