“My research lies at the intersection of quantum information theory, optimisation, and physics. I am currently working on understanding how noise in quantum circuits affects quantum state preparation, and how it can potentially be used as a resource,” says Roberto.

“Before my current position, I completed my PhD at the Centre for Quantum Technologies in Singapore, under the supervision of Professor Marco Tomamichel. My doctoral research focused on the fundamental limits of catalysis in quantum resource theories and on methods to improve step sizes when solving convex optimisation problems in quantum information”.

Roberto obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physics from the University of Bologna, Italy, where he studied topological models in condensed matter physics.

“Outside of research, I enjoy playing the piano, playing football, and running,” says Roberto.
