Pietro Maria Posta, PhD student
Pietro Maria Posta was employed as a PhD student, affiliated with the Analysis and Quantum Section and the QMATH group, as of 1 September 2025.
Pietro is Italian and studied in Rome at Sapienza for both his bachelor’s and master's degrees in mathematics. He explains:
Under the supervision of Professor Fabio Sciarrino and Professor Gianluca Panati, my Master's thesis developed a more general and optimised version of the parameter-shift rule, an optimisation procedure used in variational quantum algorithms, particularly focusing on the linear photonic framework.
“My research, under the supervision of Professor Matthias Christiandl, will focus on studying the quantum computational complexity of problems related to representation theory, such as computing the multiplicities of irreducible representations in classical representation-theoretic constructions”, says Pietro, and adds:
“I am also a black belt in Judo, and love playing chess!”
You can find him at the QMATH centre in Vibenshuset.
