Patricio Pérez Piña, postdoc
Patricio Pérez Piña is from 1 October 2025 employed as a postdoc in the department’s section for Algebra & Geometry.
Patricio is a Chilean mathematician with an interest in Number Theory. He will be joining the Algebra & Geometry section, under the mentorship of Fabien Pazuki. Patricio is currently working on equidistribution problems over function fields and possible applications.
He obtained his PhD in April 2025 at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), under the supervision of Ricardo Menares. His thesis focused on equidistribution problems in p-adic and S-arithmetic settings.
From 2018 to 2019, he pursued his master’s studies at ENS de Lyon, where his thesis was supervised by Filippo Nuccio (Université Jean Monnet Saint-Étienne, UJM). Patricio received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV), where he initially enrolled to become a high school mathematics teacher before turning to mathematical research.
