Maximilian Matzler, PhD student

Newly employed

Maximilian was employed as a PhD student at the department’s section for Analysis & Quantum as of 1 August 2025.

Maximilian Matzler

Maximilian Matzler is originally from Austria. He obtained his BSc and MSc degrees in physics from the University of Innsbruck, including research stays at the University of Padua and the University of Naples Federico II.

“During my master's thesis, supervised by Hannes Pichler, I developed tensor network algorithms to study the classical simulability of chiral waveguide QED systems. I also contributed to a project on the effects of noise in quantum annealing protocols, under the supervision of Procolo Lucignano in Naples”, says Maximilian.

“I am now pursuing a PhD at the University of Copenhagen, working with Daniel Malz and Albert Werner at the Centre for the Mathematics of Quantum Theory (QMATH). We are currently interested in quantum state tomography protocols tailored for near-term quantum simulators.”

You can find Maximilian at Vibenshuset, office V01-4-04.
