Martin Bladt, Associate Professor

Appointment

Martin Bladt has been appointed as Associate Professor at the Department for Mathematical Sciences from 1 February 2023. He will be working with the section for Insurance and Economics.

Martin Bladt

Martin works in the interface between statistics, applied probability, and insurance mathematics. His current research interests include heavy-tailed censoring problems; semi-Markov modelling; matrix, functional and distributional regression; and applications to insurance, geosciences, and related fields.

Martin is born in Aalborg (Denmark) and has a Bachelor’s degree from The National Autonomous University of Mexico and a Master’s degree from the University of Copenhagen. He completed his PhD in 2020 in Lausanne, Switzerland, under the supervision of Hansjörg Albrecher. His main areas of interest were statistics of extremes, matrix distributions, and applications to non-life insurance.

Martin ware employed as a postdoc here at the department in September 2022. He is working on devising new models, which provide a rich mathematical basis to tackle problems of considerable practical interest in applied statistics and the insurance field.

You can find Martin in office 04.3.06.
