Lucas Larsen, PhD student
Lucas was employed in September 2025 as a PhD student at the department’s section for Algebra & Geometry, associated with the Copenhagen Centre for Geometry and Topology.
Lucas was born in Sweden, but at the age of three, his family moved to Corinth, Greece, where they stayed for 15 years before returning to Sweden.
“There, I obtained my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Lund University, both under the supervision of Sigmundur Gudmundsson. My master’s project is titled ‘Minimal Submanifolds of Classical Riemannian Symmetric Spaces’, Lucas explains.
“I am mainly interested in Riemannian geometry, particularly harmonic maps and minimal submanifolds. For my PhD, I am branching out to learn more geometric analysis with a focus on translating solitons under mean curvature flow, under the supervision of Niels Martin Møller.
“Outside of work, my interests include hiking, birds and wildlife, some amateur astronomy and piano music”, adds Lucas.
