Harald Kugler, PhD student
Harald Kugler was employed on 1 September 2025 as a PhD student at the Copenhagen Causality Lab (CoCaLa) in the department’s section for Statistics and Probability Theory.
Harald (“Harry”) studied Cognitive Science and Machine Learning at the University of Tübingen, Germany, where he completed his master’s thesis in the Theory of Machine Learning group by developing a scalable detection algorithm of data-copying in generative models.
His research interests lie at the intersection of machine learning, causality, and statistics.
“In my PhD, I’ll investigate how the structure of causal models and benchmark datasets shapes the performance of causal discovery methods. I’m particularly curious about non-linear settings and about extending existing algorithms to those cases,” says Harry.
He will be under the supervision of Sebastian Weichwald and Anton Rask Lundborg.
You can find Harry in office 04.3.03.
