For the next year, Gabriele Pittarello is visiting the department’s section for Insurance and Economics, hosted by Munir Hiabu.

Gabriele is a PhD student in actuarial sciences at the Sapienza, University of Rome, in the school of Statistical Sciences.

He has a Bachelor's degree in business economics from the University of Milan-Bicocca. He took his Master’s degree in Statistical and Actuarial Sciences at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Milan, where he is still associated as an external examiner.

His research interests are computational methods for non-life insurance and machine learning models applied to non-life insurance. His goal is to investigate how to exploit the extensive individual information on claimants available to insurance companies to improve the current literature on claims reserving models.

Gabriele’s research at the University of Copenhagen is aimed at writing his PhD thesis, under Munir Hiabu’s supervision.
