Anna Caroline Lestrøm Bertelsen, Research Assistant
On January 1, 2026, Anna Caroline was hired as a research assistant in the Statistics and Probability section.
"My time at the University of Copenhagen began back in 2020 when I started my bachelor's degree in mathematics and economics. I quickly became interested in statistics and continued to the master's programme in Mathematics and Economics, where I wrote a number of independent projects that allowed me to combine applied mathematics with a quantitative statistical angle," says Anna Caroline.
"After six months in the field as a Risk Specialist at Danske Bank, I am now back as a research assistant with Susanne Ditlevsen."
"I am incredibly fascinated by how mathematics can be used to explain and predict real phenomena, and have a keen interest in stochastic modelling. My big dream is therefore to write a PhD thesis in quantitative statistical modelling, and I am really looking forward to a research environment and a working life with Denmark's most talented sparring partners in the field," says Anna Caroline. She adds:
"Besides mathematics, I am a huge animal lover and spend most of my free time with my horse, Dahlia."
