Dilation and classification in operator algebra theory

University of Copenhagen, 17-21 October 2022

A dilation of an operator is a way of thinking about it as a corner of an operator, with additional desirable properties, acting on a larger space. This idea can be used force reversibility of irreversible operator algebras and one-sided dynamical systems. Recently, techniques from dilation theory and the structure theory of C*-algebras provided new classification results for operator algebras, which then led to novel insight in symbolic dynamics.

In this workshop / masterclass we wish to gather international experts, collaborators, students and postdocs to deepen such emerging interaction between dilation theory and classification of operator algebras. There will be no fees associated with the workshop / masterclass, but we are regrettably only able to offer financial support for speakers, and to very few additional participants.

The workshop / masterclass will take place in person, and we hope to see as many of you in Copenhagen as possible.

The conference will take place at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. See detailed instructions on how to reach Copenhagen and the conference venue, and see this MAP of the HCØ building, where the conference takes place.

Tickets and passes for public transportation can be bought at the Copenhagen Airport and every train or metro station. You can find the DSB ticket office on your right-hand side as soon as you come out of the arrival area of the airport. DSB has an agreement with 7-Eleven, so many of their shops double as selling points for public transportation.

A journey planner in English is available.
