Abstract:  We introduce notations and important theorems to describe a method for which to describe the universal group C*-algebra associated to any crystallographic group. We analyze and classify the 17 different equivalence classes of 2-dimensional crystallographic groups and give an explicit description of the universal group C*-algebra. Bieberbach’s Theorem states that there are only finitely many equivalence classes of crystallographic group for any dimension.
We will try to describe how to calculate the K-theory of the universal group C*-algebra associated to crystallographic groups which can be calculated via equivariant cohomology.
