Title: K-Theory of Hecke algebras
Abstract: Hecke algebras arise in smooth representation theory and can be thought of as the analogue of group rings of discrete groups totally disconnected groups. Motivated by the Farrell-Jones Conjecture for discrete groups we study the K-theory of Hecke algebras via assembly maps. I will discuss to what extends constructions and methods of proof can currently be transferred from group rings of discrete groups to Hecke algebra and where new phenomena arise. This is joint work with W. Lück.
