Boundary Conditions for Einstein Metrics and Ricci Flow:
We will discuss a set of geometric boundary conditions that arises naturally from studying the calculus of variations associated with Einstein metrics and Ricci flow.
The conditions allow us to define a notion of linear stability for Einstein manifolds with boundary, while also facilitating existence and uniqueness of the associated Ricci flow. We shall present several recent results regarding this form of stability and describe how the theory can be applied to black hole thermodynamics.
