Seminar: Hochschild homology and the cohomology of free loop spaces

Massimiliano Ungheretti will give a talk on Hochschild homology and the cohomology of free loop spaces.

Abstract: Hochschild homology has been widely used to provide an algebraic model for the (co)homology of free loop spaces. We will first describe one such model (the Jones isomorphism) and then discuss how homotopy coherence can be used to fix a gap in the original treatment. Time permitting, we will also see the roles played by cyclic and dihedral homology in this model.
