Michael Aizenman, Princeton University, Ruminations on Matrix Convexity and the Strong Subadditivity of Quantum Entropy
Abstract:
The second derivative test for convexity is a useful tool also in the context of matrix-valued functions. We apply it to shed light on joint convexity principles which have played an essential role in the Lieb-Ruskai (‘73) proof of the strong subadditivity of quantum entropy.
