Title: The Modular Microcosm Principle

Abstract: In my talk, I will present a version of the Baez-Dolan microcosm principle that is adapted to modular operads and can profitably be used in quantum topology, in particular for the construction of correlators in open conformal field theory. In the beginning, I will also survey, at a rather general level, how tools from algebraic topology can be used in two-dimensional conformal field theory.
