Title: Geometric methods in representation theory
Abstract: Sheaf theory supplies powerful tools to understand the representations of algebraic groups, lie algebras, and some finite groups. In this talk I'll explain how representations of these objects may be described using the six functor formalism of (constructible) sheaves on algebraic varieties, and how (perverse) sheaf theory illuminates the structure of these representation categories. This talk will be expository with aim to give an idea of the subject.
