Titel: Topological Generation for Compact Quantum Groups

Abstract: In this thesis we introduce the concept of compact quantum group. We give an overview of the main results concerning the corresponding representation theory. For instance, we establish a Tannaka-Krein type theorem for orthogonal compact matrix quantum groups. The main goal of the project is to reach a theorem about topological generation of quantum groups first proved in [5]. After reaching this goal we we will explore the consequences of this theorem. Namely, consequences to the still open problem of classifying the intermediate quantum subgroups between ON and O + N and the hyperlinearity of O + N , for N = 2 or N ≥ 4.
