Titel: Drinfeld Modules and Good Towers of Function Fields

Abstract: We develop the theory of Drinfeld modules with a particular focus on the case of Fq[T]- Drinfeld modules over fields. We then introduce Drinfeld modular curves and present some facts about them. It will follow from these facts that a certain family of modular curves gives rise to an asymptotically optimal tower of curves. Finally, we will discuss how explicit equations for asymptotically good and optimal towers can be derived from Drinfeld modular curves.
