Title: Noncommutative peaking for tensor algebras arising from Markov chains

Abstract: We continue our seminar on operator algebras arising from stochastic matrices, this time focusing on C*-algebras arising from finite matrices. We will characterize completely peaking states for their tensor algebras, and show how these can be used to compute the C*-envelope. This will provide us with many examples where the C*-envelope of a non-self-adjoint algebra can land "between" the Toeplitz and Cuntz type algebras. Time permitting, we will explain how to classify the C*-envelope up to stable isomorphism and "on-the-nose" *-isomorphism, all this in terms of the stochastic matrices.
