Operator systems and algebras learning seminar

Title: Introduction to operator systems and algebras

Abstract: In this introductory talk I will discuss some of the basic theory of completely positive maps and operator systems. Eventually this will lead us to dilation theory, Arveson's non-commutative boundaries and applications in non-self-adjoint operator algebras. Time permitting I will provide some motivation by mentioning some of the applications of these techniques, including Kennedy and Kalantar's C*-simplicity theorem, Katsoulis' Hao-Ng isomorphism theorem for Cuntz-Pimsner algebras, Clouatre and Ramsey's study of residually finite dimensional operator algebras, as well as more recent work of yours truly with Eilers and Geffen on classification of non-self-adjoint operator algebras.
