Title: The degree of semi-stable reduction

Abstract: The main object of my talk is the minimal degree of a field extension over which an abelian variety over a number field acquires semi-stable reduction. I will present new results on this topic starting from the case of elliptic curves. I will also introduce in this context one of the central objects in my reasearch : the finite monodromy groups. I will briefly explain how to build CM abelian varieties with big finite monodromy at a given prime and show how to use these to compute the bound for the degree of semi-stable reduction.

The talk will take place on Zoom. If you would like to receive the Zoom link and are not part of our current NT Seminar mailing list, please contact the organizer.
