Number Theory Seminar

Speaker: Michael Cerchia (Atlanta)

Title: The canonical ring of moduli of abelian varieties.

Abstract: The canonical ring of an algebraic variety is a classical object and central to the minimal model program. It also has applications in arithmetic: Voight—Zureick-Brown computed explicit generators and relations for the canonical ring of a stacky curve; this provides explicit descriptions of rings of certain modular forms. After describing the necessary background, I will present work that extends the above results by computing canonical rings of moduli stacks of abelian varieties, which in turn provides explicit presentations for rings of Siegel modular forms.
