Title: A p-adic analogue of Borel's algebraization theorem for Shimura varieties of abelian type

Abstract: Suppose S is a Shimura variety such that every connected component of the space of complex points S(C) of S is a quotient of a Hermitian symmetric domain by the action of a torsion-free arithmetic group. Borel proved that any holomorphic map from a complex algebraic variety into the complex manifold S(C) is algebraic. In this talk, I shall describe joint work with Ananth Shankar and Xinwen Zhu, where we prove a p-adic analogue of this result of Borel for compact Shimura varieties of abelian type.

The talk will take place on Zoom. If you are interested in attending and not on the Number Theory Seminar mailing list, please contact the organizer to obtain the link
