Title: Arithmetic finiteness of very irregular varieties

Abstract: I will discuss joint work with Marco Maculan in which we prove the Shafarevich conjecture for a large class of irregular varieties over number fields. Our proof relies on the method of Lawrence-Venkatesh and Lawrence-Sawin, together with a big monodromy criterion from previous work with Javanpeykar, Lehn and Maculan that uses new results about perverse sheaves on abelian varieties.
