Cryptographic Techniques in Electronic Communication Today and Tomorrow

Speaker: Peter Landrock

NBIA Colloquium

Abstract: Cryptographic techniques based on the inability to solve some hard questions in algebraic number theory are the basis of methods to secure financial transactions. e.g., as in nemID. I shall give an overview of how this is achieved based on fast generation of very large primes, digital signature schemes such as RSA, elliptic curves, and hash functions. Highlights of current research will be discussed, including the possible role of quantum cryptography
