Title: Descent and vanishing in telescopic algebraic K-theory

Abstract: This is joint work with Akhil  Mathew, Niko Naumann, and Justin Noel.  We show that two predictions of Ausoni-Rognes in telescopic algebraic K-theory, namely descent "at the next height" and vanishing "at all heights after that", are actually strongly interrelated, in a manner which allows to simultaneously establish them via an inductive argument, in a quite broad context.  The argument is not too long, but it combines many ingredients, in particular three recent quite interesting theorems proved by three disjoint sets of authors.  A true community effort!  I will start the talk by giving some background in chromatic homotopy theory and algebraic K-theory.
