Title: Towards the algebraic K-theory of orbifolds

Abstract:

Waldhausen's algebraic K-theory of spaces provides a source of interesting homotopy invariants of manifolds, particularly in connection to h-cobordisms. In this talk, we will discuss a generalization of Waldhausen's construction that takes an orbifold (or more generally an orbispace) as input and which we expect to have rich geometric applications in analogy with the manifold setting. As an orbifold is locally described in terms of equivariant data, our discussion will involve a detour through the genuine equivariant algebraic K-theory of G-spaces and its relevant invariants.
