Answers to questions & corrections:
Problem 1: By D is meant the 2016-gon together with its interior. By "the edge" is meant the boundary curve of this region, i.e. the 2016-gon itself.
Problem 8: The desert is assumed to be a plane. The djinn always travels with constant speed exactly a times faster than Ali Baba, and the djinn knows the value of a (i.e. the ratio between the velocities). The djinn's trajectory does not have to be continuously differentiable. The djinn is not allowed to wait: it must move along the curve at constant speed (a times greater than Ali Baba's). The djinn knows the respective velocities, and also the exact position of the cave and the city.
