Titel: Wind Farm Layout Optimization With Non-Linear Wake effects

Abstract:  The wind farm layout optimization problem (WFLOP) is a very relevant problem for energy companies and sees a lot of work in this present time. The purpose of the thesis  is to construct the best layout for a future wind farm, taking into account the effect the wind turbines have on production of others. We investigate and compare the following models: The WFLOP with Jensen linear wake effect and the WFLOP with Jensen non-linear wake effect. The WFLOP with Jensen linear wake effect is formulated and solved as a MIP and WFLOP with Jensen non-linear wake effect is solved as a MINLP. It can be seen that the wake effect has a negative impact on the total power production for a wind farm and therefore wake should be considered when optimizing a layout for a wind farm. Due to the complexity of the WFLOP with Jensen non-linear wake effect alternative solution approach hes is considered. There is proposed two alternative solution methods in the thesis. Greedy search and a local search heuristic. All solution methods are compared and the results shows that the heuristics generates good feasible solutions in short amounts of time
