Upper Secondary Computer Based Mathematics Education

Speaker: Prof. Niels Grønbæk

Abstract

The first part of the talk is about Center for Computer Based Mathematics Education, (CMU, Danish acronym). CMU initiates and coaches projects on use of computer algebra systems (CAS) in mathematics teaching in Danish high schools. I will tell about its mission, ways of working and describe some exemplary projects.

In the second part of the talk I will present an analysis model for teachers’ decisions on use of CAS in mathematics teaching. The model is based on Chevallard’s anthropological theory of the didactics and a business economy model of source allocating (out- and insourcing).
