Title: Subgroup C*-correspondences and their Cuntz-Pimsner algebras

Abstract: Rieffel-induction can be described by means of a bimodule with right and left actions encoding how representations of a locally compact group and a fixed closed subgroup are related via induction and restriction. Viewing the module as a C*-correspondence over the group C*-algebra of the subgroup leads to a Cuntz-Pimsner algebra. The resulting objects can be characterized in terms of other familiar C*-algebras, with outcomes depending on whether the subgroup is open, discrete or compact. Intriguing connections with other constructions surface along the way. This is joint work with Steve Kaliszewski and John Quigg.
