My PhD project studies magnetic effects on quantum systems. There are special effects of magnetism in quantum mechanics that do not have a classical analogue. In particular, the celebrated Ahaornov-Bohm effect illustrates that a charged quantum particle moving in a region where the magnetic field vanishes can nevertheless be affected by it. In the standard example of the Aharonov-Bohm effect the magnetic field is concentrated in straight solenoid and the particle is localized to the
outside of the solenoid.

In the project we investigate new geometric setups for the Aharonov-Bohm effect where the magnetic field is concentrated in closed curved solenoids. A particular focus is on the interplay between the geometry of the solenoid and the spectral properties of the quantum systems.
