- Research Profile -

I work at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, in the research group Mathematics of Reaction Networks.

My research focuses on the application and development of tools in algebraic geometry and algebra to address questions arising in molecular biology. Specifically I focus on the mathematical study of interaction networks, mainly on understanding their properties at around equilibrium.

In 2015 we hosted a workshop on Mathematical Trends in Reaction Network Theory, which brought together experts from around the world, working on the theory describing the behaviour of systems of (bio)chemical reactions. Read more here.

I hold a PhD in Mathematics (2007), from the Universitat de Barcelona, in the area of Arakelov Geometry/Algebraic K-theory. Further, I hold a Master in Bioinformatics (2008) from the Universitat de Barcelona and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. I have been working in my current research area since 2010.

Research lines:

Applied algebraic geometry and algebra, chemical reaction network theory, theoretical systems biology.
