Seminar: Classification of one-sided topological Markov shifts

Kevin Aguyar Brix will give a talk on Classification of one-sided topological Markov shifts.

Abstract: I will report on a paper from 2014 in which the authors K. Matsumoto and H. Matui provide the final step in the classification of one-sided topological Markov shifts in terms of operator algebras and their diagonal. More precisely, the authors prove that continuous orbit equivalence implies flow equivalence of the two-sided shift space. The proof relies heavily on the notion of topological groupoids. I intend to introduce all the relevant concepts from scratch.

The lecture is part of the ALG/NCG/TOP Ph.D. students' seminar.
