Dr. Péter Vrana, guest at QMATH

Guest

“We are very excited that Péter Vrana joins the QMATH centre as our first visiting professor for half a year", says Professor Matthias Christandl.

Péter Vrana"Péter has made important contributions to the understanding of multiparticle entanglement and plans to expand his combinatorial approach to the subject, originating from research on tensors and matrix multiplication, while in Copenhagen”, says Matthias Christandl from Villum Centre for the Mathematics of Quantum Theory.

Péter Vrana is assistant professor (since 2014) at Department of Geometry, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary. Before that he was postdoc at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland and Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany.

Vrana took his MSc and PhD (in Physics) at Budapest University of Technology and Economics.

Péter’s research interests are focused on mathematical problems related to quantum information theory and mathematical physics in general. Specific topics include:

  • polynomial invariants related to entanglement
  • transformations of entangled quantum states
  • tensor (border) rank
  • noise in quantum computation
  • homological quantum codes

You can find Péter in office 04.2.03
